Delhi**... a nice place to goof around with your life when you got friends. All you have to do is completely ignore the fact that in summers you feel like you are being roasted alive and in winters it is cold enough for you to realize that the only part of yours that has not frozen over are your balls.
Come brethren, embark on this journey with me through space and time, to a place far far away (...about 6500 miles from my current location)...to Delhi, December 2008.
The following is a part of an actual conversation between yours truly and the Most Amazing Woman in this world and beyond, in one cold wintery night in Delhi:
I: You remember when I told you what a soul mate is?
MAW: Yes I do
I: That person does not need to be your friend or someone you are committed to. It is someone with whom you share an affinity that makes you feel complete.
MAW: hmm…
I: For me that person is…
Conversation punctuated by long awkward pause
I: Ummm... Jessica Alba or maybe Angelina Jolie!
MAW: Yeah right, Jessica Alba!
...and then she laughed and at that very moment my friends I knew I would love this woman for the rest of my life.
And thus before I turned 25 I fell in love, that too with the most amazing woman in the world and thus once again I rewrote my definition of love:
Love: Verb. Maybe it’s when you learn to make different types of paper planes for her, maybe it’s when you gift her a cactus instead of flowers, maybe it’s when you find most outrageous excuses to meet her (for instance “have you tried 7up Nimbooz?”... “No? Ok I am coming over”), maybe it’s when you try to sing a song in spite of the fact that you sound like a donkey braying when you do so
OR
Maybe it’s all about being happy and nothing, not even a private island or a jet could ever make you happier and you realise that maybe happiness has nothing to do with success or money. That is the reason I assume love is rare and happiness is rarer still.
And as I turned 25, I discovered that the colour of love is...Yellow.
Point 5 on my “to-do list before I turn 25”...check.
To be continued....
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
**For the uninitiated Delhi is also home to Delhi University and statistics say that 39.75 % of all the hot chicks in India have or almost had a degree from DU.
